The Present
I'm focusing on Web Development with Ruby on Rails and related technologies. I'm looking forward to work on cool projects with nice people, enjoying the process while sticking to realistic settled goals. And always eager to learn from new challenges.
I was the main translator for the Spanish version of the Ruby Language website, and I'm part of the group of people that keeps it up to date with news.
Interested in standards-compliant applications, free software and open source in general. I am a member of UYLUG (Uruguay Linux Users Group) since 2002.
The Experience
Since I got my first computer, back in 1985, I have been attached to them, starting programming at age 8.
Professional Application and Web Development started in 1997.
I have software development experience using technologies like: Ruby on Rails, HTML, CSS, Javascript, GeneXus, Java, Visual Basic, Subversion, Bug Traking (Trac, Collaboa, Retrospectiva, Mantis), Deployment Automation (Capistrano), Rake, RSpec, Rcov.
Systems administration has also been in my daily tasks using: Debian/Ubuntu, SUSE, OpenSSH, PostgreSQL, Slony I (Postgres replication), MySQL, nginx, mongrel, Apache httpd, Apache Tomcat, Postfix, Shorewall, Samba, OpenLDAP, Jabberd, Bash scripting.
I've been learning about puppet based automated servers administration.
I also have Object Oriented Design & Programming teaching experience in Universidad ORT Uruguay (ORT University of Uruguay), using OO Design Patterns, UML, and applying those concepts in the Smalltalk and Visual Basic languages.
